Saints Finish Fifth at GLVC Men's Golf Tourney

The Maryville men’s golf team made a late rally to finish in fifth place at the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament at the Country Club of Paducah in Paducah, Ky. After shooting 327 as a team on day one, the Saints improved by 12 shots to a 315 to finish the second round tied for seventh in the team standings at 642. In the third and final round, the Saints carded a 304, the second best score of the final round and narrowly missed the four-team match play finale by just one shot. All five Maryville players broke 80 in the final round as the Saints recorded a 946 team score.
 
For the Saints, Dustin Harris finished in fourth place overall to earn All-Conference honors. After shooting 76 in the second round, he fired a 74 to finish at 230. Nick Lees tied for 18th overall with a score of 237. He shot 77 to close his tournament. Just one shot back was Alex Doneff who finished tied for 21st. Jack McKinney had Maryville's second best score in the final round with a 75 to card a 245, and Michael Fowler shot his best score of the tourney with a 78 and finished at 248.
 
Four teams advanced to the match-play format in the final round with Northern Kentucky leading the way with a 925. Indianapolis (932), Bellarmine (944) and Rockhurst (945) also advanced to the finals Tuesday. NKU's Corey Richmond topped all individuals with a score of 224.
