Senior forward
Abby Duethman (Kansas City, Mo. / St. Teresa’s) was named Second-Team All-American by the Women’s Division II Bulletin. Earlier this season, she was chosen as the 2013 Great Lakes Valley Conference women’s basketball Player of the Year. Duethman becomes the program’s first Division II All-American and the first since Carrie Snyder earned All-American honors from the
DIII News in 2006.
This season, the six-foot Duethman became Maryville’s all-time leader in scoring (1,463) and rebounding (633). In 21 games this season, she averaged 15.9 ppg to rank fourth in the GLVC and led the conference in rebounding at 9.9 rpg. Duethman hit 25 3-pointers, shot 50 percent from the field and 74 percent from the free-throw line. She dished out 45 assists, swiped 39 steals and posted 13 blocked shots. Duethman recorded nine double-doubles this season and is the all-time program leader with 33 in her career. She was a three-time All-Conference selection.
The Saints finished the season with a 19-10 record and won the GLVC West Division with a 13-5 slate. Maryville attempted to become the first league team to win back-to-back conference tournament titles but was downed by Lewis in the 2013 championship game.
