Maryville University Athletics

During the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, senior wrestler Matt Baker recorded the 100th victory of his career and was Maryville’s top finisher in second place. He helped the Saints record an eighth-place finish in a field of 26 teams.
 
Baker opened up action at 197 with a 3-0 win over Taylor Delong of Indiana Tech and pinned Joseph Hinchman of Shorter College. He won in sudden victory against Newberry’s Joe Grisko, then moved past Ohio Northern’s Michael Pawlitz 6-0. In the championship match, Baker battled against Upper Iowa’s Carl Borghammer. The bout was close throughout before Borghammer narrowly won via a tiebreaker 5-4.
