Freshman Tyler Omlid was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 7, 2013. The righthander is the first Saints baseball player to earn the award since Maryville joined the league. Omlid notched his first two wins of the season as he keyed home victories over the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Missouri S&T. He started both games, worked 16 innings, gave up only 13 hits and surrendered just two earned runs. Impressively, Omlid struck out 10 and did not allow a walk while notching a 1.12 ERA. With runners aboard, Omlid allowed just four hits in 26 at-bats, holding opponents to just .154 batting average at the plate.
