The top-ranked Maryville wrestling team won eight matches and registered a 35-9 victory over Missouri Valley College in a dual meet held at Blue Springs High School in Blue Springs, Mo., Monday evening. The Saints recorded one pin and two tech falls in the triumph.
Jaret Singh started the match with a high-scoring 12-10 decision at 125. Missouri Valley took the 133 pound bout before James Krischke notched a fall at the 2:14 mark in the 141 classification. Blue Springs alums Keenan Hagerty and Greg Hegarty posted back-to-back wins at 149 and 157, respectively, before MVC took the clash at 165.
Zeb Wahle posted an 18-6 major decision at 175 to start a run of four straight wins by the Saints. Nick Burghardt won at 184 via tech fall in just 2:48, and Ryan Beltz posted a second consecutive tech fall, this one at the 4:12 mark in the 197 classification. Donnell Walker closed out the night in the heavyweights with a 5-3 decision.
The Saints are next in action Saturday when they participate in the Missouri Valley Open in Marshall, Mo.
