St. Charles, Mo. - At the sixth annual Joe Parisi Open,
Nate Rodriguez took third place to highlight the Maryville wrestling team's efforts. The high-level tournament was hosted by Lindenwood University and featured numerous NCAA Division I participants.

In the Golf Division, Rodriguez started his day at 141 with a fall at the 2:04 mark, and he followed up with a 7-0 shutout of Roman Boylen of Tennessee-Chattanooga. However, Rodriguez was downed by Missouri's Alex Butler by a 6-3 count. In the back draw, Rodriguez battled back with four wins to take third place. After advancing via a medical forfeit, he posted pins at the 3:38 mark and in 53 seconds to reach the third-place match. There, for the second straight week, Rodriguez bested defending national champion Darren Wynn of McKendree, this time by a 2-0 score.

Greg Hegarty opened with a 9-0 major decision then edged Luke Fortuna from Missouri. He lost in the semifinals to drop into the consolation bracket but had to withdraw. In the 197 classification,
Ethan Sherertz reached the semifinals with a 3-2 win over Devaunje Franklin Smith of UT-Chattanooga. However, he was unable to advance to the finals and fell in the fifth-place match by a 7-4 score.

In the Black Division, the Saints advanced a wrestler to the finals at 133 and another to the quarterfinals at 165 and 184.
