Indianapolis - At the 38th Midwest Classic hosted by the University of Indianapolis, the Maryville wrestling team finished in second place and earned five placers.
Nate Rodriguez won the 141-pound division and guided the Saints to 94 team points trailing only Wisconsin-Parkside which earned the team title.

In the semifinals, Rodriguez posted an 8-2 decision to reach the finals. In the first-place match, he notched the title with a 7-2 win over Joseph Alessandro of Seton Hill. Rodriguez improved his record to 16-2 this season.

Ethan Sherertz and
Donnell Walker both earned second-place finishes for the Saints. At 197, Sherertz earned a 4-2 win in the semifinals to reach the championship bout. However, he was narrowly edged by a 3-2 count for first place by Matthew Rudy of Limestone. Walker advanced to the heavyweight finals with a fall in just 1:24. He was unable to carry over that momentum to win the title as he dropped a 7-2 decision to Garrett Gray of Tiffin.

Zeb Wahle dropped his semifinal and consolation semis matches but battled back with a fall at 6:50 to win the fifth-place bout.
Greg Hegarty also reached the semifinals but had to withdraw from 157 and grabbed a sixth-place finish.
