St. Charles, Mo. - Maryville and Truman State split a Great Lakes Valley Conference softball doubleheader Saturday in St. Charles, Mo. TSU rallied to take game one 4-3 before the Saints posted a 6-5 win in game two. The Maryville victory is the 12th GLVC win, to tie the mark for most conference wins since joining the league.

Truman opened game one with Christa Reisinger singling and then scoring on a Saints error to grab an early 1-0 lead. The Saints came right back as
Ashley Marks drilled a single into right field and scored on a
Bri Livingston single to tie the game up at 1-1.

The Saints broke thru in the home half of the fifth as
Hope Miller reached base on a fielder's choice and Livingston followed up with a double down the left field line to give Maryville a 2-1 advantage.

Maryville stretched out its lead in the bottom of the sixth as
Heather Wernle singled and then came home on a
Krystal Rock single to center field to give the Saints a 3-1 lead, but the Bulldogs battled back in the top of the seventh as Brooke VunCannon and Reisinger scored on an Kadie Orenstein pinch-hit single to even the game at 3-3. Truman State took the lead on the next batter as Rylie Cook came home on an error to give the Bulldogs a 4-3 lead.

Kelsey Dorsey enter the contest in the sixth inning and got the win to improve to 12-2 on the year while
Nikki Taylor took the loss and dropped to 9-4. Taylor, Livingston, and Wernle paced the Saints offense with two hits a piece.

Maryville started the nightcap off with a bang as
Wendy Macias drilled her first home run of the season to score Taylor and take a 2-0 lead.

The Bulldogs pushed across a run in third and had another chance to score in the forth, but Rock turned in a web gem with an outstanding toss from centerfield to throw out Jamie Fowle at the plate to keep the score at 4-1.

The Saints took advantage of a pair of walks as Macias helped her own cause with an RBI single to centerfield to give Maryville a 5-1 advantage after four innings.

Truman (21-9, 13-3 GLVC) battled back in the fifth as Lex VanHostrand hit her seventh home run of the season to draw the Bulldogs closer at 5-3. The Saints came right back in the bottom part of the inning as
Alex Flasch hit her ninth double of the year to give Maryville a 6-3 lead.

The Bulldogs closed the gap in the sixth inning to 6-5, but Taylor slammed the door in the seventh to earn her second save of the year. Macias garnered the victory to improve to 14-1 on the year. Macias also helped herself at the plate by adding a pair of hits for the Saints (24-6, 12-4 GLVC)

Maryville returns to action Sunday as the Saints take on Quincy at Noon in a doubleheader at Lindenwood University.
