East Peoria, Ill. – The Maryville University softball team fell behind Truman State in the early portion of the game and could not recover as the Bulldogs eliminated the Saints from the 2019 Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Tournament 6-1 Saturday afternoon at the Eastside Centre in East Peoria, Ill.
 
Elimination Game vs No. 6 Truman State:
The Bulldogs grabbed the early lead in the first with two runs on three hits. Truman State took control of the game in the third frame as it scattered five hits to plate four runs and extended the lead to 6-0. The Saints had an opportunity to cut into the lead in the fourth as they loaded the bases with one out, but could not push across a run as the Bulldogs got a strikeout and forced a fly out to end the uprising. Maryville has one more chance in the seventh inning as Hope Miller and Emily Bruin each singled to put runners at first and second. Truman State ended the Maryville season as the Saints lined into a triple play to close the game. The 33 wins are the most in a season since 2016 and the second-best record for the program in the Division II era.
