In its first action of the 2019 fall season, the Maryville men's tennis team traveled to McKendree and recorded a 5-2 victory. The Saints swept all three doubles matches to grab the early lead and dominated the top of the singles ladder.
Louis Glaves and Jack Beuttell-Trigs won their No. 1 doubles match 6-3, while Bodin Aleksic and Erik Aarthun scrambled for a 7-6 tiebreak win in the second doubles slot. Fernando De Andres Orea and Juan Segura eased to a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles to complete the sweep.
In singles action, Beuttell-Triggs went three sets in his 7-5. 2-6. 6-3 triumph in the top singles position. Glaves had to rally at No. 2 singles for a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 win. Aleksic swept his third singles contest, while Segura's foe was forced to retire in the third set.
The Saints next play at Lindenwood Tuesday, Sept. 17 in a 2 p.m. match in St. Charles, Mo.
