In its first action of the 2020 spring season, the Maryville women's tennis team swept every match in a 7-0 triumph at Quincy. The Saints set the tone of the day by dropping only one game in each win in doubles play.
Nicole Pafundi and Clara Bascunana cruised to a 6-1 decision at No. 1 doubles. Sandra Hinterberger and Ashley Dowden combined for another 6-1 win at No. 2. Tamara Pinto and Georgina Cupper matched the previous results with a third 6-1 victory at the third doubles position.
Pafundi only lost one game in each set to claim her win at No. 1 singles, and Bascunana did the same in a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the second slot. At No. 3 Pinto took her match 6-2, 6-2, while Hinterberger battled for a 6-4, 6-3 decision at No. 4. Dowden opened her tilt at No. 5 with a 6-2 win then swept all six games in the second set. Cupper closed her singles match at No. 6 with a dominating 6-1, 6-1 triumph.
The Saints are off until they head to William Jewell Friday, Feb. 14.
