Samantha Hausl hit a pair of home runs while
Alyssa Callans and
Olivia Jarvis each tossed complete games to power the Maryville University softball team to a sweep of Davenport University Saturday afternoon at the Maryville Athletic Complex. Maryville grabbed an early lead in the opener and held on for a 5-3 win and then once again scored in the early innings to claim a 3-1 win in the nightcap.
Game One:
The Saints opened the scoring in the second as
Jaclyn Pasakarnis singled to start the inning and moved to second on a ground out. Pasakarnis scored after she stole third and crossed the plate on a throwing error to make the score 1-0.
Maryville added a run in the fourth as Hausl ripped her fourth home run of the season to put the Saints ahead 2-0.
Lexi Touchette added another run in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single while
Ally Wilson smacked a two-run single in the sixth to extend the Saints lead to 5-0.
The Panthers rallied in the seventh with three runs to cut the Maryville lead to 5-3, but Callans ended the uprising with her 10
th strikeout of the game to earn her seventh win of the season.

Game Two:
The Panthers wasted no time in the nightcap as they grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Maryville answered with a pair of runs of their own in the home half of the first as
Taylor Shingler had an RBI single to tie the game and Hausl had a groundout that scored Shingler to give the Saints a 2-1 advantage.
Hausl added to the lead in the fourth with her second home run of the day to stake Maryville to a 3-1 lead. Jarvis retired nine of the last 10 Davenport batters to earn her second win of the year as it extended the Saints winning streak to four games.
