In the quarterfinals of the 2021 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, the Maryville women's tennis team was defeated by Drury 4-1 Friday morning at Romeoville, Ill. The Saints were the East No. 2 seed, while the Panthers were the West No. 3 seed.
 
The Saints dropped the doubles matches at No. 2 and No. 3 as Drury secured the first point of the contest to head to singles play 1-0.
 
Carolina Valezquez won her match at No. 3 singles by a 6-4, 6-4 scoreline. Georgina Cupper battled at No. 2 singles as she lost the first set 4-6 before rallying to take the second 6-4. However, she lost the final set. Emily Orlove and Maria Gouveia were stopped in their matches as the Panthers (11-4) sealed the victory and moved on to the semifinals.
 
The Saints close out the season with a 7-3 record.
