East Peoria, Ill. - Maryville softball team was one of the final four teams still playing at the 2021 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament but finally saw its run come to an end at the hands to top-seed Indianapolis. The Saints were eliminated by an 8-1 final as Maryville put together six hits and worked two walks Saturday. The Saints closed out the 2021 season with 21 wins.

Indianapolis game:
The Greyhounds jumped ahead with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Saints started the second with two straight hits but were unable to push a run across. Maryville finally got on the scoreboard in the fourth frame.
Lexi Touchette singled and
Brooklyn Moore came on as a pinch runner.
Melanie Nelson singled up the middle and Moore dashed all the way to third.
Olivia Jarvis lifted a sac fly to left to plate Moore with Maryville's first run.

In the fifth,
McKenna McCoy walked and reached third but was stranded there to end the threat. She reached base for the second time when she bunted her way on in the seventh inning. However, the Saints were unable to push her home as the game ended.
