Harrogate, Tenn. - The Maryville softball team closed out action at the Lincoln Memorial Invitational with one victory Sunday. The Saints defeated Ohio Dominican 4-1 before falling to No. 13 Lincoln Memorial 8-0. LMU pitcher Emma Frost retired all 15 Saints batters she faced in a five-inning perfect game.

The Saints scored the game's first run in the fourth when
Taylor Duff doubled and
Emersen Heron followed with her own RBI double and a 1-0 lead. The fifth inning saw
Callie Harrison triple and
Taylor Shingler reached on a fielder's choice. With two outs,
Erin Sammelmann ripped a single that brought both Harrison and Shingler home for a 3-0 lead. ODU scored its only run in the sixth but the Saints scored an insurance run in the top of the seventh when Duff plated
Emily Corona. In addition to accumulating three hits, Heron picked up the win in the circle as she only surrendered one run.

In the finale versus No. 13 LMU, the hosts scored the only two runs they would need in the bottom of the first. LMU pushed across runs in the third and fourth but the Saints would not get a runner to the basepaths over the five innings played.

The Saints are next in action Friday, Feb. 25, as they face Northern State in Joplin, Mo.
