St. Louis - In the softball series finale, Parkside edged Maryville 2-1 in a pitcher's duel Sunday. The teams combined for just five hits and all three runs that scored were unearned. Maryville starter Reagan Smith recorded 13 strikeouts on the day.

Smith, who struck out seven of the first nine Rangers she faced, gave up only an infield single, while Parkside pitcher Kiley Akey also allowed just one hit through five innings. In the top of the sixth, the Rangers recorded their second hit of the game and pushed a runner to third. But the Saints kept the game scoreless.
 
In the bottom of the sixth, Taylor Shingler walked, stole second and reached third on a throwing error. Taylor Duff lashed an RBI single up the middle for a 1-0 lead. The Rangers had a single to open the top of the seventh and attempted to bunt the runner into scoring position. However, the Saints committed an error that put two runners on. Another sac bunt put two runners into scoring position, and Parkside tied the game on a double. The Rangers pushed the go-ahead run across on a wild pitch. Maryville was unable to tie the game in its final at-bat.
