Town and Country, Mo. -  In the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener, the Maryville women's tennis squad lost a 4-0 decision versus Southwest Baptist Friday at Woodsmill Racquet Club.
 
At No. 1 doubles, the Saints pushed SBU's No. 26 squad but the Bearcats won the other two matches to take the doubles point.
 
The Saints looked to rally in the singles but the Bearcats took the No. 1 singles matches for a 2-0 lead. Carolina Velazquez grabbed the opening set at No. 2 but SBU's Elsa Pascual rallied for a three-set win. The final point of the match came at No. 4 singles as Polina Paunova ended the contest in straight sets.
 
The Saints are next on the court at McKendree Friday, March 31.
