ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Maryville University softball completed a sweep against the Rangers gaining two victories to finish out the four-game series against Parkside on Sunday afternoon.

Maryville started Sunday's match right off the bat scoring two runs in the first inning.

Emily Corona scored off a wild pitch to give the Saints a 2-0 lead.
In the second inning, Maryville continued to drive in runs off the bat of
Tori Forbeck, who scored
Callie Harrison on a sacrifice fly to center making the margin 3-0 for the Saints.
The Saints generated more run-action in the bottom of the third when Corona crushed a triple through the right-center gap, scoring Shingler. Swinney and
Emersen Heron continued the RBI streak, both with shots to right field. The Saints held a 6-0 lead going into the back half of the match.
After
Reagan Smith tossed three scoreless innings, the Saints surrendered Parkside's only two runs of the game in the top of the fourth.
Emily Senjan then tossed 3.2 scoreless innings to finish game one, improving her record to 1-1 in 2023. The Saints gathered their final two runs off a two-run homerun by Corona, scoring
Melanie Nelson as well. Maryville wrapped up a victory in game three of the two-day series, 8-2 against the Rangers.

Game 2 Recap
In a windy afternoon match to close out this four-game series, the Saints started out hot with a two-run lead off a Swinney single to center, scoring both Corona and Shingler. Nelson then drove another single to center scoring
Caitlin Rodriguez in the second, giving the Saints a 3-0 advantage.
Parkside then got on the scoreboard in the top of the third with a blast to right-center scoring two Rangers. Still leading by one, Shingler came up big for the Saints with an RBI triple in the fourth and RBI single in the sixth. The two big at-bats gave the Saints a 5-2 lead heading into the final inning. Parkside scored their final run off a sacrifice fly to right field.
Heron was in the circle for the Saints in the seventh to seal up a complete game, moving her record to 5-3 on the year. The sophomore from Edmond, Okla., only gave up two earned with four strikeouts. Maryville closed the weekend series out with a 5-3 win over the Rangers.
