ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Maryville University softball twirled a shutout in both games of a Sunday doubleheader against Missouri S&T. The Saints won game one 12-0 behind
Emersen Heron's complete game, while
Chayse Ramey and
Emily Senjan combined for an 8-0 game-two win in the circle. Â

Game One Recap
Maryville opened up the bottom of the first inning with a leadoff double by
Emily Corona. Corona came around to score later on a wild pitch. A second run came home in the inning when
Erin Sammelmann scored on
Emersen Heron's RBI double over the centerfielder's head.

Sammelmann singled home another run in the bottom of the second before the Saints exploded for five runs in the bottom of the third. Now up 8-0 in the fourth, senior
Ally Wilson stepped in and drove in another run with a single through the right side. RBI from
Taylor Shingler and
Caitlin Rodriguez pushed the Maryville lead up to 12-0.

In the circle, Heron wrapped up a complete game shutout in the fifth after working around a walk and a single with no outs. She earned her 13
th win of the season allowing just five hits with two strikeouts.

Game two starter
Chayse Ramey started her day by working around a pair of one-out singles in the top of the first with a lineout and a strikeout. In the bottom of the first, the Saints capitalized on several Miner errors to post six runs on four hits. Heron,
Lexi Touchette, and Shingler (2) all had RBI in the inning.

Heron singled home runs in the second and the fourth to threaten an 8-0 mercy rule victory.

Ramey took the lead and ran with it, posting 4.1 innings of work, four hits, no runs, and two strikeouts on 58 pitches.
Emily Senjan got the final two outs of the game in the fifth to end an 8-0 win for Maryville.
