Saint Louis – Senior
McKenna Radley scored in the Maryville University field hockey team's season finale at Saint Louis University Sunday afternoon. The contest, played at SLU's new on-campus facility, was the 2024 season finale for the Saints as the Billikens prevailed 9-1.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Saints had a good scoring chance in the first minute of the game as
Lachlan Sanders put a shot on goal that was turned aside. The Billikens earned two straight penalty corners and converted the second chance to get on the scoreboard. SLU kept up the pressure but Maryville goalie
Jojo Cox made three saves to keep the Saints close. The Billikens finally pushed another score across and took a 4-0 lead after the first. Maryville passed the ball down the right side that led to a
Morgan Angle chance but her shot was saved. SLU earned a penalty stroke and converted for a 5-0 lead at halftime.
Â
The Billikens scored twice in the third before the Saints hung a goal on the scoresheet. Maryville worked the ball into the middle of the SLU defense, and Radley converted a pass from
Denise Van der Spuy for the Saints lone score of the day. Cox finished the day with five saves in net.
