St. Louis – The Maryville women's lacrosse team was edged out 10-9 with five seconds to play in the championship game of the NCAA Division II Tournament Midwest Regional. Regis scored on a free-position shot for the game-winning goal to topple the Saints in the game's waning moments.
Sydney Tiemann notched a hat trick and finished the game with a team-high four points.

The Rangers opened up the scoring but
Devyn Dimovitz equalized for the Saints at the 9:34 mark of the first. Regis scored three straight to grab a 4-1 lead after 15 minutes. Maryville responded with its best stretch of play and reeled off five unanswered goals. Tiemann pulled one back, before
Helen Bae and
Natalie Tomljenovic tacked on back-to-back player-up scores to tie the game. Bae deposited another free-position goal for Maryville's first lead of the day at the 4:51 mark. Tiemann fired in a goal to give the Saints a 6-4 margin. However, the Rangers scored the last three goals to take a 7-6 edge at halftime.

Tiemann opened the second half with a score that drew the Saints even at 7-7. Regis went back ahead with a goal but Tomljenovic notched a player-up score for an 8-8 tie heading into the fourth quarter. The Rangers scored in the first minute of the final 15 minutes to inch ahead 9-8. Dimovitz collected a pass in traffic from Tiemann and forced another tie with 2:38 to play. The Saints won the ensuing draw control but Regis forced a turnover that gave the visitors the ball back. The Rangers drew a foul with eight seconds to play, and Megan Bunker converted the chance with five seconds to play to win the thriller.

The Saints finished the season with 18 victories, the most in school history, and won an NCAA Tournament game for the first time. Tiemann finishes her career with an all-time Division II record of 321 goals.
