Saints Field Hockey Drops Season Finale in Overtime at Frostburg State

Frostburg, Md. - Despite a dominant offensive effort and a strong showing from goalkeeper Jojo Cox, Maryville field hockey dropped a 1-0 overtime heartbreaker to Frostburg State. Frostburg State's Hannah Haberkorn netted the golden goal at the 8:34 mark of overtime off the fourth penalty corner in the extra session.

How it Happened
Maryville controlled long stretches of the match with 10 shots, placing eight shots on goal to Frostburg's seven. The Saints kept pressure on Frostburg goalkeeper Zoe Barnes, who tallied eight saves to keep Maryville off the board.

Offensively, Delanie Winkelmann led Maryville with three shots, including two on goal. Consuelo Torres Moore added a spark off the bench, recording two on-frame attempts in 34 minutes of action. Denise Van der Spuy also generated key chances and handled all three of the Saints' penalty corners.

Defensively, Dorothy Fife came up with a crucial third-quarter defensive save in the 40th minute to preserve the scoreless tie. Cox anchored the back line with five saves in more than 68 minutes of play. The Monday afternoon contest was the season finale for the Saints.
