Murphy Fires in Seven Goals as Saints Dominate Dominican 16-5

ST. LOUIS  – Paige Murphy finished with seven goals and one assist as the No. 6 Maryville women's lacrosse team dominated Dominican University 16-5 Sunday afternoon. Helen Bae had three goals and three assists, while Devyn Dimovitz also notched a hat trick.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Bae broke the ice with a player-up goal less than 90 seconds into the game as Maryville tallied the first seven goals. The Saints quickly forced a turnover which led to Murphy's first of the day. Maryville converted three straight free position attempts with Dimovitz scoring followed by a pair by Murphy. Natalie Tomljenovic scored before Murphy tacked on another to make it 7-0. Dominican scored with 14 seconds left in the first quarter to finally get on the board.
 
Murphy and Dimovitz opened the scoring in the second until DUC pulled one back. The Saints fired in three more times before the break. Murphy scored with the Maryville down a player, and Tomljenovic and Bae made it 12-2 at halftime.
 
The Penguins scored the first goal in the third quarter but the Saints put the game away with three more tallies. Gaby Quinones converted a free-position attempt, before goals by Murphy and Dimovitz closed out the period at 15-3. Gianna Guzek made two saves in the first half to pick up the win in cage. Haley Ritchie led the defensive efforts with four caused turnovers and three ground balls.
