Saints Drop GLVC Pair at McKendree

LEBANON, Ill. – Maryville softball came up short in a Saturday GLVC doubleheader at McKendree, falling 3-1 in game one before an 8-0 setback in five innings in game two.

GAME 1 | McKendree 3, Maryville 1
Maryville struck first and had opportunities throughout but couldn't capitalize late as McKendree used a two-run fifth to take control.

Jenna Kosnoff led the Saints with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate, while Marley Williamson drove in the lone run of the game.

The Saints opened the scoring in the third inning, as Kosnoff doubled and later came around on a Williamson RBI single to make it 1-0.

That lead held until the fourth when McKendree evened things up, before stringing together four hits in the fifth to plate two runs and grab a 3-1 advantage.

Maryville threatened in the fifth with a pair of hits, but left two on base, and the offense was held scoreless the rest of the way despite six total hits in the contest.

GAME 2 | McKendree 8, Maryville 0 (5 inn.)
Maryville was held without a hit in the contest, managing just two baserunners via walks and a hit-by-pitch.

McKendree broke through in the second with a pair of runs, then added single tallies in the third and two more in the fourth to extend the lead. The Bearcats capped the game with a three-run fifth, powered by multiple extra-base hits and home runs.

The Saints used a trio of pitchers in the game, with Cora Boyle making the start before Mia Maxel and Aubrey Scieszinski followed in relief.
