Saints Advance to NCAA Quarterfinals with 14-7 Triumph over Rockhurst as Murphy Reaches 100 Goals

ST. LOUIS  – The Maryville women's lacrosse team advanced to the 2026 NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals with a 14-7 victory over Rockhurst. The Saints have a rematch at Indianapolis Saturday, May 16, in a 12 p.m. CT / 1 p.m. ET contest at Key Stadium for the right to move on to the NCAA Tournament semifinals.
 
During the contest, Paige Murphy became the first player in either NCAA Division I or Division II history to record 100 goals in three seasons. She finished the game with six goals for 102 this season and added a pair of assists. Natalie Tomljenovic recorded a hat trick, while Helen Bae had a goal and three assists. Gianna Guzek made 10 saves on the day, the third time this season she has recorded double-digit saves.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Murphy opened the scoring just under two minutes into the game, and Emmery Clark's goal doubled the Maryville lead. Rockhurst pulled one back before Bae and Mady Richert scored to push the Saints on top 4-1. The Hawks tied the game in the second until Tomjlenovic deposited a goal to give the Saints a 5-4 lead at halftime.
 
Murphy opened the third quarter with back-to-back goals, and Tomljenovic made it 8-4 by the end of the frame. Guzek shut out the Hawks in the quarter and made two big saves. The Maryville defense blanked Rockhurst for nearly 18 minutes. Murphy reached the milestone with her 100th of the season with the opening goal of the fourth quarter. Two more scores by Clark and Murphy extended the margin to 12-5 as the Saints cruised on to the quarterfinals. The Maryville defense had 14 caused turnovers and forced Rockhurst into 22 turnovers.
