EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - For the second year in a row, Illene Limberg of the Maryville women's cross country team took home first place at the Gabby Reuveni Invitational hosted by Washington University in St. Louis. 

Limberg's win was not without competition though as Mallorie Metzger finished right behind her. The podium was littered with more Saints as Fatimah Almamori arrived in fourth place.

INS & OUTS
The saints took to the course on the campus of SIUE to race a rare men's and women's combined 5K. Facing blistering heat, Limberg came across the line in a time of 18:47.1 followed closely by Metzger who finished in a time of 18:47.9 just eight tenths off her teammate.

Third place for the saints went to Fatimah Almamori who finished her 5K in a time of 19:21.6 which earned an overall fourth place finish. Next in the Saints succession was Lyric Ford who finished in a time of 20:01.5 which earned her an 15th place overall finish. Rounding out the top five for the saints was Sylvia Charlton who finished in a time of 21:05.4 which placed her 27th overall.

The Maryville women's cross country team took home second place overall finish with only 30 points, only one point off WashU's winning 29 points. The Saints top five ran an average time of 19:37 with a spread of only 2:19 from the first place finisher to the fifth.

The Saints will take a week off of competition and will race again Friday, Sept.18, in St. Louis at the Billiken Invitational hosted by Saint Louis University.
