Biography

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
2018-19: Nick has been the Ultimate Utility Wrestler for the last three seasons, earning him that award. Nick has wrestled three different weight classes to help the team. His commitment, dedication and discipline are the reasons for his success on the mat and in the classroom. Nick has competed at 149, 157, and 165 lbs during his career. During the season Nick dominated Nate Smalling (McKendree), earning a 14-8 victory at the Lindenwood Open. Smalling would place 4th in the nation at the
end of the year. Nick won the Wrestler of the Week and OOOSSS Award two times during the season. He is a NWCA Scholar All-American for the third time. He wins his third Varsity Letter Award, the Dr. Lombardi Saint Award, and the Jim “Bongo” Bayly Iron Discipline Warrior Award. Nick has always been a “Positive Force” and a leader by example for us. He has made our Dojo a much Better Place.

2017-18: Nick is a Positive Force for our Team on and off the mat. He moved up from 157 pounds to 165 pounds to help the Team. He is ready to have an impact in Division II Wrestling. He started the season at 157 pounds where he scored a technical fall (17-1) over Axmear from the University of Iowa in 3:37. Nick finished the season as the varsity starter at 165 pounds picking up 5 key dual wins. Nick earns his second Varsity Letter Award this season. Nick is a gifted athlete that continues to have an impact on the team. Nick is a standout in the classroom and was named to the NWCA All-Academic Team for the second time and earns the Dr. Lombardi Saint Award while majoring in Pre-Medicine. He is also an Academic Dean’s List Student. Nick also picks up the Rebounding Power Award, Jim “Bongo” Bayly Iron Discipline Award, and the GRIT Award this season. Nick was named Wrestler of the Week two
times this year.

2016-17: Nick moved up a weight class for the team, wrestling 157 lbs, when senior two-time All-American Greg Hegarty was sidelined with injuries. He wrestled in six duals, gaining valuable experience and helping the team. Nick placed 8th at the Doane Open and went 3-2 at the tournament. Nick earned his first Varsity Letter Award this season, was named Wrestler of the Week and earned the Most Technical Falls Award, with 3 tech-falls. Nick was also selected to the NWCA All-Academic Honorable Mention team this season. He is a Dean’s list student with a 3.64 GPA majoring in Pre-Medicine. Nick continues to improve and is an outstanding student in the classroom. He will compete for a starting spot in the Saints line-up during the 2017-18 season.

2015-16: He is an excellent student who as a Freshman redshirted and wrestled unattached in five open tournaments. He placed Second in the Maryville Kaufman/Brand (Amateur Division) with a 4-1 record. Capped off his season with a Fourth place finish in the Missouri Valley Open. He finished the season with an 9-8 record. He captured the team’s Wrestler of the Week Award two times and the OOOSSS Award once.

High School: Nick is a four-time Missouri State Qualifier and a two-time state place finisher, finishing 5th as Junior before finishing his Senior year with a 2nd place finish. Nick is also a USA Folkstyle All-American.
