ACCOMPLISHMENTS
2021-22:
Dylan was faced with a lot of adversity during the season. But he did not let it get the best of him. He persevered. He kept showing up. He used some rebounding power. He will be able to use those lessons he learned as he goes into his final season of competition. He is a valuable addition to our team. Dylan was a 3x Varsity Letter Award recipient. Dylan makes our Dojo a “Better Place”.

2020-21(COVID Shortened Season): Dylan is a valued member of this team and went through some adversity over the course of the season. The Maryville Wrestling OOOSSS Men were in his corner and helped him rebound. Dylan’s ability to handle adversity will serve him well on the mat and in life. Dylan is made of the “Right Stuff” and will refocus in the off-season and come back hungry to have a much better season. “The Natural” makes our Dojo a “Better Place”! 

2019-20: Dylan works on being better every day on and off the mat. He is a "Positive Force" on the Team. Finished 5th at the Pat "Flash" Flanagan Open, 4th at the MO Valley Open, and 4th at the Greyhound Open. Dylan earned the Wrestler of the Week and OOOSSS Award honors three times. Dylan earned the Rebounding Power Award and the Varsity Letter Award (2x). The "Best is Yet to Come" for "The Natural".

2018-19: Nicknamed “The Natural”, Dylan wrestled at 157, 165, and 174 lbs for the Maryville Wrestling Team. He placed 5th at the Jim Koch Open, Greyhound Open, and Missouri Valley Open. Dylan earned his first Varsity Letter Award and Jim “Bongo” Bayly Iron Discipline Warrior Award. For his performances, Dylan earned the Wrestler of the Week and OOOSSS Award twice this season. With continued discipline and commitment, the sky is the limit for Dylan Shotwell. He is a valuable member of our team and makes our Dojo a “Better Place.”

2017-18: Dylan was able to have some success in college wrestling as a true freshman but the Best is Yet to Come for him with continued Work Power and Commitment. He competed in 6 open tournaments this season wrestling unattached. Dylan opened the season with an impressive 2nd place finish at the Kaufman/Brand/Bayly Open going 3-1 on the day. Dylan placed 4th at the Lindenwood Open and picked up an 8th place finish at the Greyhound Open. Picking up 3 tournament place finishes during his Freshman season earns Dylan one of the Outstanding Redshirt Awards. Dylan also wins the Jim “Bongo” Bayly Iron Discipline Award and GRIT Award. Dylan was named the Wrestler of the Week three times and OOOSSS Award once during the season. Dylan will challenge for a varsity spot in the 2018-19 season at 157 or 165 pounds.

Dylan was a 3x State Placer (5th, 4th, 4th) during his high school career. He was a member of two State Championship teams. Dylan was named to three Academic All State teams and was named the team Captain. He was a Multi-Sport Athlete and recorded 139 wins during his high school career.
