St. Louis native, John Hogan, was named the inaugural head coach for the Maryville Saints Men's Ice Hockey team in February 2018. He additionally assumed the Director of Hockey role over the summer of 2019 to oversee the entire program's day-to-day operations.
Hogan has been instrumental in accelerating the growth of Saints’ Hockey. After just one season at the Men’s ACHA D2 level, Maryville fielded teams at the ACHA D1 and D2 levels for the 2019-2020 season. A women’s team joined the men’s teams in the 2020-2021 season. Starting in the fall of 2022, Maryville fielded five teams with a team in each ACHA division (M1, M2, M3, W1, W2). Hogan serves in the role of Director of Hockey as well as the head coach for the Men’s 1 team. As of 2023, the Men’s 1 team competes as an independent team within the ACHA M1 league with no conference affiliation.
Before becoming the head coach at Maryville University, Hogan was an assistant coach with the University of Arizona’s ACHA M1 team. He additionally played three years for the Arizona M1 program before joining the coaching staff. As players, Hogan and his twin brother, Toppie, were instrumental in leading their team to the 2016 National Tournament.

Hogan’s Maryville Hockey Mission: “To provide a college experience unlike any other in the country.
