Tim Makubuya enters his third season as an assistant track and field/ cross country coach. Coach Makubuya served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Saints from 2009 to 2015. Prior to coaching at Maryville, coach Makubuya led the women's team at Trinity College Nabbingo in his native Uganda, to its first regional championship at Kings College Buddo in 2005. Makubuya was a 2007 NAIA National Championship qualifier in the marathon, as well as a three-time All-Conference athlete in cross country at Missouri Baptist University.

Coach Makubuya holds a USATF Level 1 coaching certificate. He earned his bachelor's of science in Sports Medicine, a master of science in sport management from Missouri Baptist University, and he holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Missouri- St. Louis. Coach Makubuya is a full-time faculty and Coordinator of Physical Education and Exercise Science in the College of Education at the University of Missouri- St. Louis.
