Maryville University announced Chanin Billings as the eighth head coach in Saints program history after spending her last season at Division-I South Dakota State. Prior to the Jackrabbits, Billings had coaching stints at DIII Hardin-Simmons and DII Harding.
Billings overhauled the Hardin-Simmons program during her tenure as Head Coach from 2017-23. The Cowgirls had a 20-win improvement during her second season in charge that saw Billings claim Co-Coaching Staff of the Year honors in the American Southwest Conference in 2019. Billings oversaw Hardin-Simmons' team batting average jumping from .215 to .324 by 2023, while her pitching staff's ERA decreased from 6.39 in 2017 to 3.28 during the 2023 season.
The Cowgirls completed three consecutive top three conference finishes which was the program's best span since 2007. The 2023 campaign featured a national ranking as high as 19th, the highest ranking in Hardin-Simmons softball history.
Prior to her leading Hardin-Simmons, Billings assisted a DII Harding program that went 58-9 and saw the Bisons rank as high as second in the NFCA Division II Coaches' poll and No. 1 regional ranking during the season.
Before entering coaching, Billings was a standout four-year starter for the University of Kansas from 2011-15. Spending her time at the hot corner, she ended her Jayhawk career with her name all over the Kansas record book, still sitting top-10 in career doubles, home runs and RBI. She tallied an All-Big 12 Second Team distinction during her sophomore season and team captain honors during in her last year.
