Carly Shisler begins her first season as a Maryville assistant women’s lacrosse coach for the 2022-23 academic year. She comes to the Saints after serving as the coach for the True Lacrosse Illinois State Teams Coach in 2021-22.
Shisler was an assistant coach at McKendree from 2019 through the 2021 season. She helped the Bearcats reach double-digit wins in the two fully completed seasons of 2019 and 2021. McKendree reached the GLIAC Tournament finals in 2019 and qualified for the GLVC Tourney in 2021. Shisler was the 410 West Head High School from 2019 to 2021 and served as the coach for 410 West Youth SLYLA. She has stints as the True Lacrosse Assistant U14 Lacrosse Coach (2015) and as New Wave Assistant U14 Lacrosse Coach (2016-2018)
A standout player at Grand Valley State University, Shisler was a three-year starter and served as team captain her senior season. She helped the Lakers to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and was a member of three GLIAC regular season championships and three postseason tournament GLIAC crown. Shisler was the 2019 GLIAC Midfielder of the Year, named to the IWLCA Division II All-Star Team and first-team All-Region. She also garnered GLIAC First, Second, and Honorable Mention All-Conference Team honors as well as earning the GLIAC Commissioner’s Award and a three-time Academic All-Excellence honors.
