ABOUT GEORGI (WORLD & OLYMPIC TEAM MEMBER)
Georgi joined the Maryville Wrestling staff after completing his eligibility and education at Boise State University in the spring of 2013. Georgi graduated from Boise State University with a degree in Business/Marketing, and is currently working on receiving a Master’s degree in Strategic Communications and Leadership from Maryville University. During his collegiate career, Georgi was a 2X All-American (2nd and 3rd) and a 2X NWCA All-Academic 1st team for the University of Nebraska at Omaha. After the wrestling program was ceased at UNO, Georgi had an opportunity to continue his education at Boise State University, where he was closer to his family. At BSU, Georgi was a 2X NCAA qualifier and PAC 12 champion and an Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. When Georgi joined the Maryville Wrestling staff in 2013, he continued to compete in Freestyle Wrestling for his home country of Bulgaria. Georgi is a World Team Member for Bulgaria in 2015 and competed at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2016. Georgi is a great addition to the coaching staff and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of competing at the highest level to the program. Georgi is married to Whitney Ivanova.

Senior (2012-13) Georgi qualified the second straight season for the NCAA Division I National Championship after winning the Pac-12 title at 157 pounds. Georgi also was awarded the Pac-12 Most Outstanding Wrestler Award for his performance. Georgi finished his season with a 25-12 record while going 13-2 in duals. Georgi finishes his college wrestling career with a 118-30 overall record.

Junior (2011-12) Qualified for the NCAA Tournament at 157 pounds after finishing second at the Pac-12 Championships...tallied a 22-8 record during the season with an 8-3 dual record...made his debut as a Bronco at the Cowboy Open where he won four-straight bouts to take the 157 title...also won the Reno Tournament of Champions...won five matches by fall and added one major decision to his season accomplishments.

Sophomore (2010-11) Georgi finished the season 35-4 while becoming a two-time All-American taking 3rd at the NCAA Division II National Championships…. won his first Super Regional title while qualifying for his second straight NCAA Division II National Championships. Georgi also went undefeated in duals with a 13-0 record and went a majority of the season ranked #1.

Freshman (2009-10) Just missed winning the national championship...was one of three UNO redshirt freshmen to qualify for nationals...finished second at Midwest Regional...finished the season with a 36-11 record, 12-2 in duals...went 4-0 at National Duals to help Mavericks win National Dual Championship...won the Dana Open...named one of UNO’s most improved wrestlers...also named one of UNO’s Outstanding Freshmen...UNO Platinum Award winner for winning 36 matches...won UNO’s R.J. Nebe Award...named to Amateur Wrestling News Freshman All-American First Team...UNO Wrestler of the Week 10 times...earned UNO OOOSSS Award seven times...tied for team lead in major decisions with eight.
