ABOUT KEENAN
Keenan joined the Maryville Wrestling staff after completing his eligibility and education at Maryville University in the spring of 2016. Keenan graduated from Maryville University with a degree in Business Administration. He is one of the wrestlers whom we built our wrestling program on when we recruited him our first year at Maryville. Keenan is a great addition to the coaching staff and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. He currently holds the All-Time Single-Season Win Record (42) and the All-Time Career Win Record (125). He was a National Finalist as a True Freshman at 149lbs during the 2011-2012 season. Keenan is a 4x NCAA II National Qualifier, 3x NCAA II All-American (2nd, 8th, 7th), 3x NCAA II Super Regional III Finalist (1x Champion), NWCA All-Academic Selection, and 2012 Maryville Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
2015-16: He completed an outstanding career for the Maryville Saints wrestling program as a four time National Qualifier and a three time All -American. He achieved the 100 win milestone with 125 wins. In his four seasons he has been a 42 match winner, 33 match winner and twice a 20 winner. He has won a Super Regional Tournament Championship, been selected the Outstanding Wrestler at two tournaments, been a finalist at the National Tournament, rebounded from two knee surgeries, selected to the NWCA All-Academic Team and received the Maryville Outstanding Male Athlete Award. This season he won the Kaufman/Brand Tournament and the Wisconsin Open. His Second place finish at the Super Regional helped the team win its second consecutive Regional Championships and qualified him for his fourth National Tournament. His third All-American finish helped the team to its third consecutive top five finish. He has consistently been a leader on the team in major decisions, technical falls and pins. He finished the season with a 20-6 record and a 5-2 dual meet record. He has been selected Wrestler of the Week 43 times during his career and the OOOSSS Award winner 35 times.
2014-15: National Qualifier and Retuning All- American. Keenan had a tremendous season for the wrestling Saints. Went 30-4, going 11-0 in duals. Was 4-0 at National Duals to help Maryville win National Dual Championship. Started season 5-0 by winning University of Central Missouri Open and beating defending National Champion Frank Cagnina of UCM in the finals. Was second at Kaufman/Brand. Won the Midwest Classic and claimed the title at the William Penn Open. He finished second at the Super Regional tournament. Recorded 13 falls and six major decisions during the season. Finished ninth in the NCAA division II most dominant wrestler poll. Picked up his 100th career win in Ouachita Baptist Dual with a 10-2 major decision over Blake Clevenger. Career record is now 105- 22. Keenan captured the team’s Wrestler of the Week Award ten times and OOOSSS Award eight times.
2013-14: Redshirted; One of the Nation’s Premier Wrestlers, an intense competitor who is always on the attack, redshirted this season, finished 9-1 wrestling unattached, won the Kaufman/Brand Tournament going 4-0 and was selected as the tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler, finished 3rd at the Wm. Penn Open going 5-1, was selected Wrestler of the Week twice and OOOSSS Award Winner once, selected as the team’s Outstanding Redshirt.
2012-13: Season: Compiled a 42-11 record as a sophomore including a dual record of 7-1. Earned second All-American Honor by placing 8th also named First Team NCAA Division II Academic All-American. Won NCAA Division II Super Region Three Championship with a 4-1 victory over Jacob Horn of St. Cloud. Won Missouri Valley Invitational going 3-0 and helped the Saints to their first ever tournament team title was 2nd at William Penn Open. Finished 3rd at Kaufman-Brand Open and Midwest Classic, place 5th at both University of Central Missouri and Lindenwood Opens. Came up with a 6-1 victory over Nebraska-Kearney’s Raufeon stats in a rematch of the 2012 Division II National Championship bout in the UNK dual wrestled in Omaha, NE won Maryville Wrestler of the Week 15 times during the season. OOOSSS Award winner 11 times. Outstanding Sophomore Award. Led the team with 7 major decisions and 10 falls, led the team with 42 wins (most in a single season at Maryville). Maryville’s Iron Man Award, one of the team’s Dr. Mark Lombardi Saint Award winner. Shared team’s outstanding Wrestler of the Year Award.
2011-12: Finished 33-7 going 5-0 in duals Div. II National Runner-up. Maryville University Male Athlete of the Year won William Penn Open, Denker Open and MVC Open, placed second Kaufman Brand Open placed third at Midwest Classic, placed fourth at Super Region III Championships.
