2019-20: Moe has been a Great addition to our Wrestling Program. His Character, Positive Power and Staying Power would rank Superlative. Moe earned the Dr. Lombardi Saint Award (3x), the Ms. Bonnie Denney Award, the NWCA Scholar All-American Award (3x), the Staying Power Award, was selected for the Div. II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award, was elected to the Geico GLVC Team Academic All- Conference for the fourth time, and was Senior Captain. Moe was a “Leader by Example” for us. His nickname Rambo fits. Moe is the ultimate example of the “Team Power”.

2018-19: Mladen wrestled at 174 lbs during his sophomore season going 5-4. He had to rebound from several injuries that prevented him from being one hundred percent. Demonstrating his mental toughness and the ability to overcome obstacles, “Moe” won the Pat “Flash” Flanagan Open at 174 lbs. As a starter at 174 lbs, “Moe” played an important part in the team’s dual meet performances. Moe is majoring in Cyber Security and is a leader in the classroom. He earned the Redshirt Sophomore Scholar Award and won the Wrestler of the Week and OOOSSS Award two times during the season. Moe is a NWCA Scholar All-American for the second time in a row. He earned his second Varsity Letter Award and Dr. Lombardi Saint Award, while also picking up the Rebounding Power Award and the Jim “Bongo” Bayly Iron Discipline Warrior Award. Moe makes our Dojo a “Better Place” with the enthusiasm, work power and commitment that he brings every day.

2017-18: Mladen has made an impact on our Team with his Work Power, Dedication and Commitment to being the best he can be on the mat and in the classroom. He wrestled at 174 pounds during his redshirt freshman season. During the 39th Annual Midwest Classic Mladen finished 4th with impressive victories over NCAA Division II ranked wrestlers defeating Price of Ashland by fall in 1:18 and Supernaw of Western State Colorado University with a 14-11 decision. Mladen is a top performer on the mat and in the classroom. He is receiving the Redshirt Freshman Scholar Award and was selected to the NWCA All-Academic Team while completing courses towards his degree in Cyber Security. He is an Academic Dean’s List student. “Moe” continues to hone his skills in folk style wrestling and is a danger to throw any wrestler he faces. In 2018-19 he will challenge to break into the starting line-up in the upper weights. Mladen has earned his 1st Varsity Letter Award for the Saints. He is being recognized with the Jim “Bongo” Bayly Iron Discipline Award and the Dr. Lombardi Saint Award for his work in the classroom. Mo receives the GRIT Award and earned the Wrestler of the Week and OOOSSS Award once during the season.

2016-17: Mladen wrestled at 184 pounds during 2016-17 season. He transferred to Maryville at semester from American University. He competed in Indianapolis Greyhound Open where he went 2-2 and finished fifth, winning his fifth place match 6-3 over Jonathan Morales of Purdue. Mladen earned Maryville Wrester of the Week Award for his performance at the Greyhound Open. Mladen is from Sofia, Bulgaria and goes by the nickname “Mo”. Mladen will compete for a starting spot in 2017-18 and looks to make a big impact for the Saints next season. Mladen is the son of Rosen and Nevena Vasilev. Mladen grew-up and wrestled in Bulgaria prior to joining the Maryville Wrestling team.
