Biography

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
2016-17: Greg, a four year starter and Senior Captain at 157lbs, finished his career on the All-Time Top Ten Career Win List with 79 Career Wins and on the Single Season Win List with 30 wins during the 2014-15 season. He finished his career as a two-time National Qualifier and a two-time All-American finishing seventh and eighth at the NCAA Division II National Tournament. He was selected to the GLVC All-Conference Second Team finishing with a 5-1 GLVC record and a 7-1 overall dual record. He had big dual wins against Indianapolis and Notre Dame to lead the team to dual meet victories. He finished the season a 20 match winner with a 20-6 overall record. He finished second at the Kaufman/Brand Open, sixth at the Midwest Classic (had to default to sixth because of injury) and fifth at the Super Region Tournament. He earned the team’s Rebounding Power Award, 20 Match Winner Award, Iron Discipline Award, Ryan Kaufman Award and Jeff Miller Award. He was selected Wrestler of the Week seven times and the OOOSSS Award Winner three times. He will graduate with a degree in Sports Business Management in May.

2015-16: Rebounded from shoulder surgery to qualify for his second National Tournament and earn his second All-American Honor. Recovering from shoulder surgery his first time back in the line-up was at the National Duals where he went 3-1 and helped the team to a Fourth place finish. He went 8-2 in duals to lead the team to seven of its dual meet wins. He had an outstanding performance at the Super Regional Tournament going 4-1 finishing Third and qualifying for his second trip to the National Tournament. His performance helped lead the team to its second consecutive Regional Championship. A gritty performance at the National Tournament earned him his second All-American Honor and helped the team to its third consecutive top five finish. He finished with a 15-8 season record and 8-3 in dual meet competition. He earned the team’s Wrestler of the Week honor seven times and the OOOSSS Award six times.

2014-15: All-American. Hegarty is another young and talented wrestler for the Saints making his first trip to nationals this year. Hegarty placed eighth and should be a national threat next season. Wrestled a 32-13 record and was 8-4 in duals. He was second at University of Central Missouri Open. Placed fifth at Lindenwood. Finished second at Kaufman/Brand open. Had third-place finish at Midwest Classic. He won the William Penn Open. Went 3-1 at Super Regional Tournament and was third to earn trip to Nationals. Recorded four falls and major decisions during the season. Captured the team’s Wrester of the Week Award twelve times and OOOSSS Award five times.

2013-14: A Positive Force on the team, he is one of the top Division II 157 pounders in the Nation, slowed by injuries this season he never was able to reach his full form, he has all the right tools to be in the thick of the race for All-American and National Championship honors, finished 12-7, 5-2 in duals, 2nd in the UCM Open, 5th at the Midwest Classic, went 2-1in the Lombardi duals, selected Wrestler of the Week 6 times, OOOSSS Award Winner 4 times, and Rebounding Power Award winner.

2012-213: As a Redshirt Hegarty wrestled unattached during his first season with Maryville posted a 22-6 record in open tournaments. Won season opening Central Missouri Open going 5-0, also won William Penn and Missouri Valley Opens, placed 4th at Kaufman-Brand and Denker Opens, 5-time winner of Maryville Wrestler of the Week Award. Won Maryville OOOSSS award 3 times. One of Maryville’s Outstanding Redshirt Award winners. 20-match award winner with 22 victories received Maryville Dr. Mark Lombardi Saint Award was named Most Outstanding Wrestler at the Missouri Valley Open Tournament for his dominating performance.

High School: Greg is a 4x Missouri State Qualifier and a 3X state place finisher. He was a back-to-back state champion, winning a pair of titles his junior and senior seasons. Greg is also a Cadet Dual Team Member as a freshman. Junior Dual Team Member as a junior and senior.
