ACCOMPLISHMENTS
2021-22: Ryan is a “Positive Force” and a leader on and off the mat for us. He moved up to the 285 lb. weight class this season and had an impact immediately. With the valuable experience he got this year and his commitment, dedication, and “Work Power” he will have a bigger impact next season in Division II Wrestling. He earned the Redshirt Sophomore Scholar Award, Most Improved, Outstanding Redshirt Sophomore, 2X NWCA Scholar All-American, “Bongo” Ultimate Utility Wrestler, GLVC All-Conference, Varsity Letter Award, DII Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award, and 3X GLVC All-Academic. Ryan is a “Positive Force” for us and makes our Dojo a much “Better Place”.
2020-21(COVID Shortened Season): Ryan faced adversity this year but stayed committed and earned the following awards. NWCA Scholar All-American, DII Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award, 2X GLVC Academic All-Conference. “The St. Clair Sensation” was not able to compete due to injuries but stayed focus academically. Ryan has the “Right Stuff” to be a top wrestler for our team. Ryan added to our “Team Power” and “Work Power.” He has the “Right Ingredients” and is a “Positive Force” in our Dojo.
2019-20: Ryan had an Outstanding Freshman year on and off the mat. He is on track to have an impact in Division II. The "Best is Yet to Come" for him for sure. He finished with a 20-6 record. Finished 1st at the Kaufman/Brand/Bayly Open, 3rd at the LU Open, 5th at the Jim Koch Open, 4th at the MO Valley Open, and 2nd at the Greyhound Open. He earned the Wrestler of the Week and OOOSSS Award honors five times. Ryan earned the Dr. Lombardi Saint Award, the Outstanding Redshirt Award, was a 20 Match Winner (20), the Freshman Scholar Award (3.800 GPA), and was elected to the Geico GLVC Team Academic All-Conference team. Ryan is a "Leader by Example on our Team.

HIGH SCHOOL
The Maryville Wrestling Team would like to welcome Freshman, Ryan Herman, from St. Clair High School, St. Clair, MO. Ryan and his brother Aaron become the 31st set of brothers that Coach Denney has Coached and his first set of twins in his 50 years of Coaching. “We feel like Ryan and Aaron are a “Great Fit” for our Wrestling Program and Maryville University. They both were a “Positive Force” during their Outstanding Careers at St. Clair High School and can have the same impact for our Wrestling Program at Maryville University. They are Quality young men who are “Leaders by Example”. We are pleased that Ryan and Aaron and their Family have decided to become part of our Maryville Wrestling Family.
