ACCOMPLISHMENTS
2021-22: Tyler, is a leader by example on and off the mat for us. A shoulder injury slowed his season this year. He will be back next season even stronger. He backs that up with dedication commitment and “Work Power”. He is a fighter and a “Positive Force” for us. He brings his best to the Dojo every day. Tyler earned our Outstanding Redshirt Junior, 4X NWCA Scholar All-American, Ryan Kaufman Award, GLVC All-Conference, 4X Varsity Letter Award, and 4X GLVC All-Academic. Tyler motivates and inspires his teammates and coaches with his example.
2020-21(COVID Shortened Season): Tyler, again leading with his “Leather Toughness”, earned these awards. Most Improved, Outstanding Redshirt – Junior, “Rio” Award, 3X NWCA Scholar All-American, NWCA DII All-Academic National Team Champions, GLVC All-Conference, 3X Varsity Letter Award. Tyler was a big part in helping the team win its 4th consecutive NWCA DII All-Academic Team National Championship. “Dynamite” is ready to make a huge impact in DII Wrestling. His experience, “Work Power”, and dedication will earn him one of the top spots in his weight class. Tyler is a tremendous leader for our team on and off the mat. He makes our Dojo a “Better Place”. “The Best Is Yet To Come” for “Dynamite”.
2019-20: Tyler has had 60 amateur Boxing matches he brings the same "Leather Toughness" he had in the ring to the mat. He is a "Leader by Example" for us on and off the mat in "Work Power", Character and Commitment. He finished his RS-Sophomore campaign with a 23- 11 record, and a 4-6 dual record. Finished 1st at the Kaufman/Brand/Bayly Open, 3rd at the Jim Koch Open, 7th at the prestigious Midwest Classic, 1st at the Pat "Flash" Flanagan Open, and 4th at the NCAA Regional tournament. Tyler earned Wrestler of the Week and OOOSSS award honors six times. Tyler earned the Outstanding RS-Soph. Award, was Saint of the Week (01/06/20), is a 20 Match Winner (23), the Rebounding Power Award, the Varsity Letter Award (2x), is an NWCA DII All-Academic Team National Champion, is a NWCA Scholar All-American (2x), and was elected to the 2019-20 Geico GLVC Team Academic All-Conference for the third consecutive time. The "Best is Yet to Come" for Dynamite in Division II Wrestling.
2018-19: Voted by the GLVC Coaches as the 2019 GLVC Freshman of the Year, “Dynamite” Tyler Stegall, made an immediate impact in the varsity lineup at 141lbs. Dynamite was 4th at the Kaufman/Brand/Bayly Open, 5th at the Jim Koch Open, 2nd at the Pat “Flash” Flanagan Open, and 4th at the NCAA DII Super Regional Tournament, losing his 3rd place match on riding time to qualify for the National Championships. Tyler finished 10-4 in duals with falls over Wisconsin Parkside, Truman State, and Kentucky Wesleyan. Tyler earned the Most Improved Award, his first Varsity Letter Award, the Outstanding Redshirt Freshman Award, the Jim “Bongo” Bayly Iron Discipline Warrior Award, and was named 1st Team GLVC All-Conference. He won the 25 Match Winner Award with 27 wins during the season. Never missing a competition earned Tyler the Iron Man Award. A Dean’s List student in Maryville’s School of Education, Tyler was selected as a NWCA Scholar All-American and was instrumental in Maryville’s 2019 NWCA DII All-Academic Team National Championship. Tyler was voted a Wrestler of the Week and OOOSSS Award winner nine times. Off the mat, Tyler has fought in over sixty-five amateur boxing fights. He took 2nd at Title Nationals. “Dynamite” will be a force to be reckoned with in NCAA DII wrestling for the next three years.
2017-18: Tyler has all the “right stuff” to have an impact for our Team and in Division II Wrestling. He is a Positive Force for us and has earned the respect of his teammates by his example. He competed in 5 opens this season wrestling unattached. Tyler placed 6th at the Jim Koch Open and recorded 4 victories at the Doane Open. On the season Tyler recorded 11 victories. Tyler is an excellent student and won the Dr. Lombardi Saint Award. He is an Academic Dean’s List Student. Tyler was selected as one of the Outstanding Redshirts for the season. Tyler won the Jim “Bongo” Bayly Iron Discipline Award and GRIT Award. He was named the Wrestler of the Week two times during the season. Tyler will be an important contributor for the Saints during the 2018-19 season.
