Cardy Wilson returns for his third season as assistant coach for the Maryville wrestling team. He came to the Saints after a standout Division I career at SIU Edwardsville.
In his time with Maryville he's helped the Saints to two indivdiual national champions, four All-Americans and six overall NCAA National qualifiers. With a primary focus on the team's younger wrestlers and their development, Wilson also acts as a high-level drill partner for the 165-285 weight classes.
As a senior, Wilson was named a NWCA Scholar All-American and earned Academic All-Mid-American Conference Scholar honors. He placed sixth at the 2023 MAC Championships and recorded 13 wins on the season. He was a two-time MAC Conference place winner and finished in the top eight at the 2022 Midlands Tournament. Prior to SIUE, Wilson was a National Champion and a two-time NJCAA All-American at Ellsworth Community College at 149 pounds. He was twice a Florida State state qualifier and was a state runner-up in 2018. Wilson also was an ICCAC Student-Athlete of the Year finalist in 2019-20.
Wilson graduated from SIU Edwardsville with a bachelor’s degree in integrative studies and also earned his master’s in kinesiology from SIUE.
