Maryville University Athletics

Jacob Walton enters his third year with the Maryville Athletics Department as Coordinator of Athletic Communications.

Walton serves as the primary contact for baseball, bowling, hockey, soccer, softball, STUNT, track & field and wrestling. He is also a key member of the Maryville Athletics digital team, overseeing broadcasting while serving as a photographer, videographer and graphic designer.

During his time at Maryville, Walton has focused heavily on developing the award-winning media team, which most recently captured a GLVC-leading five CSC Creative & Digital Design Contest awards. He was also a finalist for College Photographer of the Year in 2024-25 and placed seventh nationally in the Awards/Championship Graphics category in 2025-26.

A member of the CSC Creative & Digital Media Committee, Walton has helped organize the annual CSC Creative & Digital Design Contests, including the development and expansion of student-based contests.

During his time at UIndy, Walton served as the primary contact for women's soccer, wrestling, baseball and tennis while also acting as the department's head athletics photographer. He played a pivotal role in covering the back-to-back Super Regional champion baseball program, including serving as the host sports information director for the 2024 Midwest Regional held on UIndy's campus.

Walton also contributed to the coverage of numerous NCAA Tournament appearances by all 23 UIndy athletic programs, including national championship victories by the UIndy women's lacrosse team in 2019 and the men's swimming & diving team in 2023.

Originally from Monticello, Indiana, Walton holds a bachelor's degree in communication and a master's degree in public relations from the University of Indianapolis.
