Alex Johnson scored the game-winning goal in both women’s soccer victories last week. Against Illinois Springfield, she collected a rebound and fired a shot into the upper right for the decisive strike in a 2-1 win. Taking on unbeaten and No. 15 Quincy, Johnson received a pass from Mariah Loya and scored on a breakaway as the Saints topped the Hawks 1-0. The win was Maryville’s first over a nationally-ranked team.
