Men’s Soccer Takes on No. 11 Quincy; UIS Visits on Senior Day

THIS WEEK:
The Maryville men's soccer team plays at No. 11 Quincy Friday, Oct. 19, then welcomes Illinois Springfield for Senior Day Sunday, Oct. 21, in a 2:30 p.m. start. Seniors Matt Bearley, Wyatt Essenpreis and JT File will be recognized before the beginning of the UIS game.
 
MORE ON MARYVILLE:
Gus Reinitz leads the Saints with four goals and one assist for nine points, and Matt Bearley has tallied four goals. Alex Brown has distributed a team-best three assists, while Zach Bavol has chipped in two assists and one goal. James Hohenstein has played 1,132 minutes with a 1.91 GAA and come up with 45 saves this season.
                
ABOUT QUINCY:
The Hawks are ranked No. 11 in the latest NSCAA polls and are 10-1-3 overall, 8-1-3 in the GLVC. Jeff Vaninger leads the team with eight goals and one assist with 17 points, while Jordan Roberts has six goals and five assists. In the nets, Drew Duncan is 6-0-1 with a 0.54 GAA, and D.J. Lampert has a 0.67 GAA with 28 saves in seven games.
 
ABOUT ILLINOIS SPRINGFIELD:
The Prairie Stars bring a 2-13 overall mark, 1-11 in the GLVC into the week. UIS has been on the losing end of four overtime games this season. Leading the offense are Mark Czarny and Nikita Fadeev. Jack Turanchik has seen the majority of time in goal and has a 2.38 GAA with 82 saves.
 
RECAPPING LAST WEEK:
Matt Bearley scored in the 65thth minute to tie the game at Saint Joseph’s before the Pumas scored on a scramble after a saved penalty kick for a 2-1 win. Against Indianapolis, Gus Reinitz put the Saints ahead in the first half, and after a Greyhounds score, Bearley answered with the game winner for Maryville.
 
LOOKING AHEAD:
The Saints end the regular season Wednesday, Oct. 24, as they trek to North St. Louis to take on Missouri-St. Louis in a 7:30 pm start at Don Dallas Field.
