The Maryville men's soccer team takes to the road in search of its next Great Lakes Valley Conference victory. The Saints head to Springfield, Mo., to take on Drury Friday, Sept. 28. Maryville moves on to Rolla, Mo., to take on Missouri S&T Sunday, Sept. 30.
MORE ON MARYVILLE:
Matt Bearley and Gus Reinitz still top the Saints with two goals apiece. Alex Brown has distributed a team-best three assists. James Hohenstein has played 783 minutes out of 828 and carries a 1.61 GAA and made 28 saves this season.
ABOUT DRURY:
The Panthers moved into the NSCAA Top 25 poll and check in at No. 19 with a 6-1-1 record, 4-1-1 in the GLVC. Shane Woods has tallied five goals and four assists, while three other Drury players have scored four goals apiece. Blake Andres has been in the nets for Drury with a tiny 0.52 GAA. Drury leads the GLVC in goals per game at 3.38 and fewest goals allowed at 0.50.
ABOUT MISSOURI S&T:
The Miners stand at 4-3-1 overall, 3-3 in the GLVC. Timmy Kenny is the team’s top scorer with three goals but no other Miner has more than one score. In goal, Donny Gesell has three wins and a 1.20 GAA.
RECAPPING LAST WEEK:
No. 5 Rockhurst scored on a counter for the lone goal of the game in a 1-0 win over the Saints Sunday. Last Friday, William Jewell struck early and tacked on an insurance goal to register a 2-0 victory against Maryville.
LOOKING AHEAD:
The Saints come back home to host Wisconsin-Parkside Friday, Oct. 5, in a 1 p.m. start. Lewis then comes to town Sunday, Oct. 7, for a 2:30 start.
