Box Score Lindenwood boxscore in PDF

The Maryville men’s soccer team fell behind early and was never able to overcome the deficit as they dropped a 4-0 decision at Lindenwood Tuesday evening in St. Charles, Mo.

The Lions jumped out on top quickly when Azeem Razwan collected a rebound after a save from Saints keeper James Hohenstein and deposited it into the net for a 1-0 Lindenwood lead in the second minute. Midway through the opening half, Tyler Luebbert launched a shot that tested Lions keeper Fermin Hughes but was turned aside. Lindenwood took charge with two scores four minutes apart to take a 3-0 lead at halftime.

After the Lions scored again, Nate Alonzo’s shot forced another save but the Saints were unable to dent the scoreboard. Later in the second half, Nick Doherty had another strong scoring opportunity but his attempt was also blocked as the Lions held on to improve to 1-1-1 on the year.

The Saints slip to 0-3 and return home Friday when they host McKendree for a 2:30 p.m. game.
