Nikita Fadeev had the first goal of the game when he lofted a shot into the Saints net in the 18th minute for an early 1-0 lead for UIS. The Saints drew level after some hard work led to a shot by
Nate Alonzo that was saved for a corner kick. On the ensuing pass into the UIS penalty area, the ball deflected off of players from both teams but bounced out to Ptacek who pounded the ball into the USI net for his first score of the season at the 43:24 mark.

With the 1-1 score line at halftime, the Prairie Stars broke through for the go-ahead goal four minutes after the break. After a Saints turnover, Alonso del Moral took a few dribbles and hit a long, curling, wind-aided shot that just found the upper right corner for a 2-1 UIS lead. The Saints had two good chances to tie the game but just misfired.
Ryan Schlick had a hard shot from the right side that was turned away.
Nick Doherty was sprung loose for a scoring chance but his shot trickled wide right of the UIS net. Alonso del Moral put the game away for UIS (6-9 overall, 5-7 in the GLVC) with a late 88th-minute tally for the final margin.
