McKendree scored two goals five minutes apart midway through the first half and made the scores stand up to defeat Maryville in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game played in Lebanon, Ill. The Saints welcome cross-town rival University of Missouri-St. Louis Wednesday afternoon in the final game of the season.

The Bearcats struck for a goal at the 16:12 mark when Liam Robley scored on a long free kick. In the 21st minute, the Saints committed a miscue in their defensive end, and McKendree converted for a 2-0 edge. Ryan Schlick and Nate Alonzo each had a scoring chance in the final five minutes before halftime but the Bearcats held onto the two-goal margin.

The Bearcats looked to extend their lead with three shots in a five minute span but Saints keeper Josh Richter came up with three strong saves. In the 72nd minute, Bradley Sandford put a flurry of three shots on goal but was stopped twice, including one via a team save, and his last shot flew wide. Alex Brown had Maryville’s last good scoring chances late in the game but his attempts missed the Bearcat net as McKendree kept the Saints at bay for the final score.
