Michael Schlemper scored at the 86:39 mark to boost visiting Missouri-St. Louis past Maryville 2-1 in the season finale for the Saints men's soccer team.

Kevin Doherty put the Saints on top in the 12th minute when he collected the ball in the middle of the UMSL penalty area, turned and fired the ball just inside the far left post. The tally was his first of the season. The Tritons tied the game at the 37-minute mark of the first when Evan Garrad jumped on a rebound and slotted his shot into the Saints net.

With both teams looking for the winner, UMSL nearly went ahead but
Kyle Leveling came up with the save to keep the game deadlocked at 1-1. Doherty nearly scored his second goal of the game, but UMSL keeper Nick Lenkman made the save. The Tritons had the best chance when Chad Haymart hit a driving shot to the right post, but Leveling stretched out and tipped the ball away. Leveling was strong in the nets and finished with seven saves. However, in the 87th minute, UMSL broke through for the winner. The Tritons strung together two passes, and Schlemper made a move and slid the ball just inside the right post.

The Saints finish the season 1-15 overall, 1-14 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Tritons improve to 9-6-2 overall, 8-5-2 in the GLVC.
