Saints Stumble at Wisconsin-Parkside Despite Goal by Reinitz

Box Score Wisconsin-Parkside boxscore in PDF
Despite a goal from Gus Reinitz, host squad Wisconsin-Parkside scored two first-half goals that would prove to be enough as the Maryville men's soccer team lost at UWP 4-1 Sunday in a game played in Somers, Wis.

Antonio Gonazlez tallied the first goal of the game in the 14th minute to put the Rangers ahead. A little under ten minutes later, Jon Gourley doubled the UWP lead with a strike in the 24th minute. Reinitz and Zach Klipsch had the Saints best scoring chances in the opening half but were unable to get the Saints on the scoreboard in the first half.

Down 2-0 after the break, the Saints earned a corner kick after Reinitz's first shot was saved. On ensuing corner, Reinitz scored at the 58:24 mark to draw the Saints to within 2-1. Kevin Doherty nearly drew the Saints level with a hard shot that just missed wide in the 61st minute of action. Maryville's best late chance might have been by Colby Gumm in the 77th minute but his blast was high. The Rangers put the game away with two goals in the final 10 minutes for the final score.

Maryville is back in action Friday, Oct. 4, when Missouri S&T visits for a doubleheader.
