Normandy, Mo. - The Maryville women's soccer team closed out its most successful season since making the move up to Division II but dropped the finale 1-0 at the University of Missouri-St. Louis Wednesday night at Don Dallas Field. The Saints completed the year with a 6-8-3 overall record, 5-8-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and narrowly missed out on earning their first GLVC Tournament bid.

Amanda Wiechens launched consecutive shots midway through the half that misfired. UMSL's best opportunity arrived a few minutes later before Saints goalie
Bailey Doerflinger collected the shot.

In the 54th minute,
Hana McGinis drilled a shot that hit the crossbar but bounced away. The Saints kept the pressure up as
Ashley Pogue put a shot on goal, and
Shannon Foley's attempt was saved by UMSL keeper Megan Ohm. However, the Tritons scored the only goal of the game in the 74th minute of action. The Saints looked for the game-tying goal in the final quarter hour and put five shots on target. However, the UMSL defense did not allow the Saints to equalize as the Tritons finished their season with a record of 8-8-1 overall, 6-8-1 in the league.
