On the opening day of the National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals, the No. 2-ranked Maryville squad posted two victories to move into Saturday's semifinals in Fort Wayne, Ind. The Saints downed Lake Erie 24-18, then faced No. 10 Lindenwood and beat the local rivals 22-9. Maryville takes on No. 7 St. Cloud State, which edged No. 4 Ouachita Baptist, in the semis starting at 10 a.m. (CT) Saturday.
"Our performance against Lindenwood to advance to the semifinals was one of the best team performances we have had at Maryville," head coach Mike Denney said. "Keenan Hagerty's performance against two top-ranked Division II opponents was outstanding and a key to us winning both duals today."

Lake Erie won the first three matches before the Saints came back to win.
Keenan Hagerty started the rally with a 12-3 major decision, and
Greg Hegarty followed with a 5-3 win. Dimitri Willis and
Zeb Wahle posted back-to-back wins before
Nick Burghardt recorded another major decision by an 8-0 count.
Donnell Walker closed out the win with a 12-4 major.

In the quarterfinals against Lindenwood, the Lions took the early lead before the Saints roared back. Again, Hagerty started the rally with a win, and Hegarty recorded a 14-4 major. Willis and Wahle both battled for wins, and Burghardt and
Ryan Beltz made it six straight wins. Walker emerged with a 4-2 win in TB1 to close out action on day one.
